Are you struggling with hip problems and searching for an effective solution?

Hip Resurfacing Arthroplasty offers a cutting-edge approach to addressing hip issues and providing much-needed relief. This innovative procedure has gained popularity for its ability to restore mobility and alleviate pain, making it a game-changer for individuals struggling with hip discomfort.

Hip Resurfacing Arthroplasty is a technique that involves reshaping the damaged hip joint rather than complete joint replacement. By preserving more of the natural bone, this procedure can provide a more durable and long-lasting solution compared to traditional hip replacements.

AM Orthopaedic’s surgeon Dr Sami Farah performs Hip Resurfacing Arthroplasty in Sydney and South Sydney locations.

We know that hip resurfacing is a great operation in patients who wish to continue competitive impact sports but it can also be used to solve complex problems.

You can regain your mobility and independence, allowing you to enjoy the activities you love once again. Don’t let hip problems hold you back any longer – explore the possibilities of this advanced treatment option by booking a consultation with Dr Sami today.

Complex Hip Resurfacing Arthroplasty

Recently a patient came to see Dr Farah having had bilateral femoral nails inserted for segmental open femoral fractures sustained in a motor vehicle accident a few years earlier. He had severe hip osteoarthritis and did not wish to have his femoral nails removed making conventional hip arthroplasty impossible.

The computer planning and 3-D printed, patient-specific jigs made hip resurfacing on this patient a relatively straight-forward procedure.

Important note: Dr Farah checked this patient’s bone mineral density (BMD) prior to hip resurfacing and he had normal BMD in the femoral necks.

Hip resurfacing arthroplasty is an innovative surgical procedure that offers an alternative to traditional total hip replacement. Unlike a total hip replacement, which involves removing the entire hip joint and replacing it with an artificial implant, hip resurfacing arthroplasty preserves more of the natural bone structure.

In this procedure, the damaged or worn-out surfaces of the hip joint are reshaped and covered with a metal cap, rather than being completely removed. The metal cap is then fitted onto the existing femoral head, creating a new, smooth surface for the hip joint to move. This approach allows for a more bone-conserving surgery, which can be beneficial for younger, more active patients who may require multiple hip replacements over their lifetime.

The key advantage of hip resurfacing arthroplasty is its ability to maintain the natural biomechanics of the hip joint, allowing for a more natural range of motion and a lower risk of dislocation compared to traditional total hip replacement.

Another key advantage is that hip resurfacing allows a patient to return to competitive impact-loading sports whereas conventional hip replacements are not designed for recurrent impact loading.

If you are struggling with hip problems and are seeking a solution that can restore your mobility, reduce your pain, and allow you to return to the activities you love, hip resurfacing arthroplasty may be the answer you’ve been looking for.

This innovative procedure offers a range of benefits, including the preservation of more natural bone structure, improved range of motion, and a lower risk of dislocation compared to traditional total hip replacement. With its high success rates and positive patient outcomes, hip resurfacing arthroplasty has emerged as a game-changer in the field of orthopaedic surgery.

However, it’s important to note that not all patients may be suitable candidates for this procedure. Factors such as age, bone quality, and the extent of the hip damage will be carefully evaluated by Dr Farah to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for your individual needs.
